So many Lebanese parents are convinced their children are geniuses and every Lebanese newborn is genius exceptional or simply the best at his first year he can recognize the colors, 18 month he knows all the days of the week, 2 years he can surf the net and use the I pad at 3 he can make phone calls (My kid is better, smarter, faster, stronger than your kid ) .You can teach any kid to recite the alphabet, the colors, to use the I pad but that does not make him a genius .They have better educational tools available and they are more exposed to technology then previous generations, but they can’t spell solve a problem or calculate without the gadgets. They are busy with electronics than actually using there brains.Kids are always kids Just let them be who they really are, with their own talents, skills, strengths, weaknesses .What do you think kids are smarter nowadays or just tech savvy?

Kids are curious by nature, they tend to use whatever is at their hands to explore the world and themselves; whether it's a ball, a book, a rock, a videogame a computer, an IPad, or even a better education system. The tools change, but the level of curiosity (and parents amazement) doesn't from one generation to the other.
my kids ARE genius!!! just kidding! As a parent we are always amazed when our kids say something new and bold, when their skills develop with speed of light. i think it is more about how fast they learn, not what they learn. an adult needs years before he can master a new language, a 5 year old kid can learn 3 languages in a year!!
that is the amazing part.. and learning is fun and challenging for them. They will get bored easily if you do not stimulate their senses, but i agree that too much technology can be harmful on the long run, and tends to make them more passive than kids exploring dirt and insects in a garden!
From experience, I think kids spent much more time chatting and playing playstation that reading (be it books or even comic strips) time in many households has become non existent. In general yes Kids these days are more savvy with regards to technology but lack general knowledge. In my case most of what this technology has brought to my son is perfect eye hand coordination, but that is about it.
I think kids are just exposed to a lot more, a lot sooner..but that being said I have to agree with you that they are over-reliant on technologies which its severely hampering their ability to think critically! Great post!
@rani, yes they are curious not genius
